What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)?

CSA is a convenient way to get fresh food from a local farm each week. Members sign up in advance of the season and then get a weekly bag of farm fresh vegetables.

What are the benefits of the SNAP for CSA program?

  • Participants can apply SNAP funds towards a CSA share and get double the value using Kentucky Double dollars funds.

  • Members will be guaranteed a mini or small share that offers 6 -7 vegetables and some fruits  and have the ability to swap items each week using an online account.

  • Each week their will be a farm newsletter or email with updates, recipes, and tips from the partner farm about how to use your share.

  • Participants receive USDA certified organic produce grown at peak ripeness that is fresh and flavorful.

What is the cost and how do I pay?

The first week of the CSA participants go to the Lexington Farmers Market Booth and swipe their benefits card for the cost of two shares ($54.50) and then receive four CSA vouchers (a $109 value), one to give to the farm that week and one for next three weeks. The following weeks members have vouchers they do not need to go to the farmers market booth they can simply give the voucher to their partner farm. When they are out of vouchers they swipe their benefits card for an additional four vouchers. The total cost for the 10-week season is $136.25.

How long is the program?

This program is offered for 10 weeks starting the weekend of July 9th/10th through September.
